About this puzzle
Playing Opponents in the UFC
Almost every pair you are shown will share a weight class and an era -- that is the setup for the question, not the answer to it. The division is small enough that a long-tenured contender really may have fought most of the names around them, so the useful check is whether the two were active at the same time for long enough to plausibly be matched, and then whether you can actually place the fight. A fighter who moved up or down a division widens the field of who they could have met.
