Playing Career Path in the NFL

NFL careers are shaped by a hard 53-man roster and one of the most active trade-and-free-agency markets in team sports, so a Career Path puzzle here often reads as a map of a player chasing playing time as much as chasing wins. A path with four or five stops in eight years isn't unusual, and it doesn't necessarily mean a marginal player -- backups, special-teamers, and starters alike get moved constantly. Watch for a long single stop early in the path; that's often the drafting team, and rookie contracts tend to keep a player in one place for their first several years before the market opens up.
