Playing Career Path in the NBA

NBA rosters move on trades, free agency, and increasingly on stars requesting their way out, so a Career Path chain can jump between contenders and rebuilding teams in ways that don't map cleanly to a player's actual quality. A short path usually means either a young player early in a long career or someone who found a stable role fast. A long, winding one is common even for very good players in the modern player-empowerment era -- don't assume a well-traveled path belongs to a journeyman.
